I have stayed at the Rivonia Bed and Breakfast (now known as Rivonia Premier Lodge) for close on 30 years. It must have been around 1995 when my work colleague and I occupied 2 of their 3 rooms for a week. In those days Rivonia B&B was basic, but it had everything one needed in the rooms.
As time went on, we continued to stay there as it met all our needs – plus. Those days were hectic with exams as well as constant preparations that were required of us. The rooms had a work station with a desk, thus, the company we worked for, decided to accommodate our ‘learner representatives’ at the B&B during their training.
As the years went by – more and more rooms were added and now the lodge has over 40 rooms. The owners, Gerard and Jill Marais, added a state-of the art Business Centre which my company uses exclusively for all our trainees on a regular basis.
What made you stay all those years? you may ask.
One cannot wish to meet a better couple than the owners/hosts of Rivonia Premier Lodge. Theyare always there to meet us, full of smiles, laughter and joy….. the perfect way to start the week.
Their accommodation has everything you would want including aircon, work desks, plugs galore, back-up power, underfloor heating, self-catering facilities, great security for you and your vehicles etc.…. you have to stay there to understand what ‘home from home’ really means.
In addition, the staff are almost immediately noticeable as friendly, full of smiles and whatever you want/need/forgot …… they will go out of their way to to find. If anything is not up to standard…. they are there like a flash to fix or replace it.
The gardens are immaculate in every way. The owners are proud of their garden… The lawns are emerald green, and the rest of their garden is fantastic indeed…. Bring a camera!!
The dining room is ‘top notch’ with great staff who are very efficient. In fact, the whole work force at the lodge seems to be a great team …… always waving and greeting.
I could add another few pages to try to describe my ‘2nd home’……. But I’m going to say “go and see for yourself” …. you certainly won’t be disappointed…. a great place to stay when you have business in Sandton and Johannesburg.
